MSc Project Management/Real Estate/Facilities Management/Construction Management and Economics

These MSc programmes are intended as specialist programmes to further the careers of those established in their profession and enable those with any existing professional standing in other areas to become qualified in these rapidly developing fields. The programmes are recommended for those established in a career in their respective discipline, within the built environment.  It can also provide an academic basis for those considering a career move.

Students follow a core programme of six taught courses, a Personal Learning Portfolio and a 40 credit dissertation.  Although students take option courses relating to their own discipline, at present there is no choice on electives.  As the programme development is an iterative process new courses may be added at later stages, to some extent this will depend on the demand.

Each of the 6 taught courses and the Personal Learning Portfolio has a 20 credit rating, and with the 40 credit dissertation this gives an overall rating of 180 credits for the award of the MSc.  Students may register for the PostGraduate Diploma for which a minimum of 120 credits at Masters level is required, or for PostGraduate Certificate (60 credits)

The dissertation is a significant feature of the programme and will reflect the chosen subject area.  It is supported by a course that introduces research methods, which exposes students to a range of methodologies, which are available for their dissertation research.  The dissertation affords students the opportunity to select a theme of relevance to their chosen programme, and of value/interest to themselves, and to undertake an in-depth investigation into their chosen subject.
