MSc Occupational Hygiene

The MSc Occupational Hygiene by distance learning has been offered by the University of Greenwich since the mid-1990's and s successfully delivered at centres in the UK, Hong Kong and Trinidad. Students from many more countries are registered at these centres

The School has offered health, safety and hygiene programmes at both post-graduate and under-graduate level since 1992. Our graduates have gone on to build successful careers in their chosen discipline and many of them now hold senior positions in their organisations.

The MSc programmes are designed to challenge students both professionally and intellectually in preparation for a career in developing health, safety and hygiene strategy and managing its implementation.

MSc Occupational Hygiene is accredited by the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS).

Students registered on the MSc Occupational Hygiene programme must complete the dissertation in an appropriate, related topic.

Applicants without suitable health and safety qualifications, for example the NEBOSH Certificate, will be required to register and successfully complete the separate Introduction to Occupational Safety Practice programme prior to commencing the MSc programme. The Introduction to Occupational Safety Practice is offered each term.

Assessment

With the exception of Dissertation, all courses are assessed by written assignments. There are no examinations for this programme. The Dissertation is assessed entirely on the final submitted document.

Entry Requirements

Applicants are expected to be working in an appropriate professional field. Interviews may be held locally to determine a candidate's potential to benefit from this programme. Candidates seeking admission must normally possess the following qualifications (or its equivalent):

1. Proficiency in English such a score of 550 or above in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or equivalent; applicants, who do not satisfy the minimum English proficiency requirement, may be required to attend an interview or take an English enhancement course;
AND
2. An Honours degree or equivalent award in which one of the physical sciences formed a major field of study.
or
3. An appropriate professional qualification with at least 5 years relevant professional experience.
or
4. Holders of other qualifications will be considered if the combination of their formal academic qualifications and relevant experience is considered equivalent to the requirements in 2 and 3 above.
